Exploring the Effects of Automated Written Corrective Feedback on EFL Students’ Writing Quality: A Mixed-Methods Study

Despite a large number of studies on the adoption automated writing evaluation (AWE) systems, effects written corrective feedback (AWCF) English as Foreign Language (EFL) students’ has been insufficiently documented. This study employed mixed-method approach to examine such because significance AWCF in EFL writing. Using quasi-experimental design, this explored how through Grammarly affected quality. A total 67 students from two intact university classes participated study, with treatment group receiving rounds and teacher while comparison only. The results posttest task revealed that did not significantly outperform syntactic lexical complexity, accuracy, fluency. follow-up questionnaire consisting fixed-response open-ended questions was administered after elicit perceptions their qualitative findings supported provided deeper insights into quantitative results. concluded discussion its limitations implications.
